Yasnaya Polyana Museum to Host 4th International Conference on Heritage of Classic Writers within the CIS

The fourth International Conference The Heritage of Classic Writers within the CIS. The Role of Literary Museums will take place at the Leo Tolstoy Yasnaya Polyana Museum in Russia from 6 to 10 September.

The conference will bring together museum specialists, university teachers and other cultural professionals from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Moldova and Georgia. The participants will share experience in preserving literary heritage, discuss the development of joint exhibitions, research and multimedia projects, as well as strengthen professional ties.

The first such conference took place at Yasnaya Polyana in 2020. “We have become convinced of the need for regular professional dialogue with colleagues from the CIS countries,” Galina Alekseeva, the museum’s academic director, comments on the event. The challenges of preserving the heritage of classic writers are very similar in many respects, and it is very important to take into account our colleagues’ experience and their areas of professional development. In addition, such conferences help to create joint projects and establish and strengthen professional ties.”

Following the conference, a number of bilateral cooperation agreements between museums are expected to be signed.

The event is organised with the support of the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation.
