The 37th session of the Interstate Council for Hydrometeorology of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held on 9 September 2026 in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrghyzstan.
Session participants considered issues relating to:
- activities of national hydrometeorological services and their interaction within the CIS and the World Meteorological Organization;
- implementation of the Agreement on the Interstate Hydrometeorological Network of the Commonwealth, fulfilment of the Strategy for the Development of Hydrometeorological Activities of the CIS Member States and its implementation Plan;
- organisation and development of meteorological support for civil aviation flights across the CIS space;
- assessment of the quality of surface water bodies in the Commonwealth countries and impacts on hydrometeorological processes;
- priority areas of scientific research;
- joint action to develop human resources capacity;
- establishment of a Regional Centre for Monitoring Dust and Sand Storms;
- participation in the activities of the Group on Earth Observations;
- implementation of the World Meteorological Organization Information System 2.0 in the national hydrometeorological services of the Commonwealth member states;
- interaction among national hydrometeorological services in the field of space weather to ensure the safe functioning of the economies of the CIS member states.
