Upon the invitation of the Russian Federation, the Commonwealth of Independent States Observation Mission (hereinafter – the Mission) is monitoring the preparation and conduct of the deputies elections to the ninth convocation State Duma of the Russian Federation Federal Assembly (hereinafter – the elections), scheduled for 20 September 2026 by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 428 of 16 June 2026.
The Mission commenced its work on 12 August 2026 and operates freely and independently, in compliance with the legislation of the host country, without interfering in the electoral process or the internal affairs of the state.
The Mission operates openly and transparently. Its Headquarters issues press releases on the progress of monitoring the elections preparation, and the Mission representatives give interviews to the media.
The Mission will set out its final conclusions and assessments based on the results of monitoring the election campaign in the Russian Federation in a final document after the elections.
