Commonwealth Countries Unite Science and National Experience to Preserve Citizens’ Health and Promote Active Longevity On World Health Day during Year of Health Protection in CIS

World Health Day is observed annually on April 7 worldwide. This year, an initiative is planned under the motto “Together for Health. Together with Science”, dedicated to the scientific approach in protecting human, animal, plant and planetary health. The motto reminds us that scientific progress and international cooperation are the only reliable foundation for protecting life on the planet.

For the Commonwealth countries, this event can provide a powerful impetus to strengthen a unified scientific and practical space, where each state contributes through unique initiatives and the implementation of national health-preserving programmes.

Annually, as part of the World Health Day initiatives, a range of various activities promoting healthy lifestyles and strengthening public health take place across the Commonwealth countries.

This year, the dynamics of the World Health Day activities on the Commonwealth platform will be shaped by three international events.

In April, under the auspices of the CIS basic organizations in hematology, therapy and preventive medicine, and oncology, the International Forum of Hematologists and Transfusiologists, the International Congress “Man and Medicine”, and the Congress of Oncologists of the CIS and Eurasia will be held.

Collectively, these events will become major platforms for international interaction, where leading scientists from Commonwealth countries will present common solutions in the fields of hematology, oncology, and preventive medicine. Such partnership clearly demonstrates practical cooperation to build a healthy space in the interests of citizens of the CIS countries.

Traditionally, large-scale initiatives will take place in the Commonwealth states during these days. From April 5 to 12, the international initiatives “10,000 Steps to Life” and “Healthy Lifestyle Promotion Week” will unfold across all CIS countries. Hundreds of cities will open “health routes”, uniting thousands of people in the most massive walking marathon. Free health screenings and Nordic walking master classes will be organized, as well as competitions for the best health-preserving environment. Telemedicine marathons will also be held, where leading specialists from top clinics will provide remote consultations, along with Open Door Days.

World Health Day on the CIS platform is a symbol of solidarity, where common historical roots and modern scientific potential work towards one common goal – a healthy and safe future for all peoples of the Commonwealth countries.
