On June 18, a meeting of the CIS Expert Council on Diabetes was held in Minsk, attended by representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee.

The meeting participants discussed key issues of organizing medical care for patients with diabetes mellitus and outlined strategic directions for joint work in the long term. The main item on the agenda was consideration of the draft Cooperation Programme of the CIS Countries on the Prevention and Treatment of Diabetes Mellitus for 2027–2030.

The experts paid special attention to analyzing the current situation regarding the availability of insulins for patients in the Commonwealth states, as well as summarizing statistical results of specialized medical care provision over the five-year period from 2021 to 2025.

In order to unify treatment approaches, a draft of methodological recommendations establishing a unified minimum list of activities for the diagnosis and therapy of diabetes mellitus was discussed. In addition, the meeting participants discussed organizational issues of the chairmanship of the Expert Council and approved the draft agenda for the next meeting.

An important outcome of the work was also the coordination of issues related to preparations for the upcoming 39th meeting of the CIS Council for Cooperation in Health, where the decisions and proposals developed by the experts will be presented.
