The CIS Interstate Statistical Committee has published the macroeconomic results for the first five months of the year. The article presents key figures on GDP, retail trade and transport.
The first months of the year confirmed that the economies of the CIS member states continue to develop along different trajectories. However, the domestic demand remains an important driver of economic activity in almost all CIS countries.
Retail trade turnover across the Commonwealth increased by 5.8%, while industrial production grew by 1%, commercial freight transport by 0.6%, and aggregate GDP by 0.8%. These figures show that the consumer sector is currently growing faster than a number of economy’s core sectors.
