The CIS Heads of Government Council approved the Concept for the Integration of Major Transport Corridors Passing through the Territories of the CIS Member States at its meeting held on May 22, 2026, in Ashgabad.

The document was developed by the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan and aims at establishing the CIS integrated transport system ensuring fast, secure, and cost-effective transportation based on modern infrastructure, advanced logistics, and multi-modal routes.

The adoption of the Concept will help to improve competitiveness of the transport corridors passing through the territories of the CIS member states, increasing their attractiveness for international shippers and investors, attracting freight traffic, unlocking transport and transit potential, and ensuring the most efficient use of transport corridors in the interests of the CIS member states social and economic development.

For reference:

The CIS member states transport corridors perform a strategic function integrating their national transport systems into the global logistics networks and ensuring the transit of goods and passengers between Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Their successful integration and modernization are also of economic importance, contributing to trade growth, and creating new logistical opportunities for the states of the region.
