The CIS Tourism Council met in Dushanbe on 23 September 2026. It brought together representatives from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the CIS Executive Committee.
The Council members exchanged views on the implementation of the CIS Strategy for Cooperation in Tourism Development for 2021–2030 and other tourism initiatives as well as on tourism development trends and the CIS member states promising tourism projects.
The participants also approved the draft Regulation on International Tourism Events and the draft 2027–2028 Action Plan for the Implementation of the CIS Strategy for Cooperation in Tourism Development. The documents are to be submitted for consideration to the CIS Council of Heads of Government.
The Council noted the positive experience of Tajikistan in developing the tourism infrastructure and promoting the country’s tourism potential on the international market.
The Council members also considered issues related to:
- awarding by the badge For Tourism Development;
- creation of a unified system of statistical accounting and forecasting of tourist flows within the CIS;
- implementation of the Commonwealth Travel Hub project in 2026–2027;
- activities of the CIS basic tourism organisation, the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.
In addition, the Council’s Work Plan for 2027 was approved, and the chairmanship passed to the Uzbek side.
