In accordance with the Decision adopted at the meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council held on May 22, 2026, in Ashgabat, Minsk will hold the status in 2027, while Karaganda (Kazakhstan), will become the CIS Youth Capital in 2028.
The chosen cities possess significant and widely applicable experience in youth work, numerous youth initiatives, and vibrant cultural life. They continue to develop infrastructure necessary for youth activities and support international youth cooperation.

In accordance with the Decision of the CIS Heads of Government Council dated May 20, 2022 the “CIS Youth Capital” International Project is aimed at engaging the youth in the implementation of programs for sustainable development in all areas of interstate cooperation.
A city granted the CIS Youth Capital status receives the right to host meetings of the Council on Youth Affairs and the Forum of Youth Public Organizations of the CIS member states.
