A regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS Member States to the Statutory and other Bodies of the Commonwealth was held in Minsk on July 28.
The Permanent Representatives discussed:
- the activities of the CIS Council on Tourism in 2022–2025;
- progress in implementing the Concept of Turkmenistan’s Chairmanship in the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Action Plan for its implementation in the first half of 2026;
- progress in implementing the Roadmap for the implementation of initiatives proposed by heads of delegations during meetings of the CIS Council of Heads of State, the CIS Council of Heads of Governments, the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers, and the CIS Economic Council, as well as progress in implementing the Belarus’ strategic initiative CIS as a Common Space for Health and Sustainable Development for 2026–2035;
- cooperation among the CIS member states in the field of digitalization, information and communication technologies.
The participants also approved the nomination of CIS First Deputy Secretary-General Igor Petrishenko as Head of the CIS Observation Mission for the elections of deputies to the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scheduled for August 23, 2026, and the nomination of CIS Deputy Secretary-General Ilhom Nematov as Head of the CIS Observation Mission for the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, scheduled for September 20, 2026;
The participants also prepared draft agendas for the meetings of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers and the CIS Council of Heads of State, which will be held in Turkmenistan on October 7 and 9, respectively.
The next meeting of the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives is scheduled to take place on August 25.
