CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev Sends Greetings to Organizers and Participants of 35th International Arts Festival “Slavic Bazaar in Vitebsk”

On July 16, the jubilee 35th International Arts Festival “Slavic Bazaar in Vitebsk” opened. Greetings to the organizers and participants of the festival were sent by CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev.

The text of the greetings reads:

“I cordially welcome the organizers and participants of the 35th International Arts Festival ‘Slavic Bazaar in Vitebsk’.

The festival’s history is inextricably linked with the history of the formation and development of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

It is significant that this year marks two important anniversaries – the 35th anniversary of the CIS and the 35th anniversary of the ‘Slavic Bazaar’. These events are symbolically united by a shared commitment to strengthening good-neighborly relations and developing cultural cooperation among peoples.

The festival’s motto, ‘Through Art – to Peace and Mutual Understanding!’, is particularly relevant today. It reflects the high mission of the ‘Slavic Bazaar’ – through music, theatre and artistic creativity to foster respect for cultural diversity and preserve universal human values. After all, art is a universal language that transcends any borders and distances, unites people, awakens the best human qualities and inspires creation.

The festival’s special value lies in its careful preservation of traditions, which harmoniously combines with contemporary creative trends.

Year after year, hospitable Vitebsk becomes a meeting place for talented people of different generations and nationalities, discovering new names and providing ample opportunities for professional and creative growth. For many performers, participation in the festival becomes an important step towards recognition and new achievements.

I am confident that the jubilee 35th ‘Slavic Bazaar in Vitebsk’ will be a highlight of cultural life across the Commonwealth.

From the bottom of my heart, I wish the organizers fruitful work, the participants successful performances, creative achievements and audience recognition, and all guests of the festival a wonderful mood, warmth and unforgettable days filled with music and the atmosphere of a true celebration of art."
