The 24th meeting of the Interstate Council for Industrial Safety opened in Minsk on July 9, 2026.
The meeting brings together heads of industrial safety supervisory authorities from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee.
Opening the meeting, CIS Deputy Secretary-General Nurlan Seitimov noted that, in the year marking its 35th anniversary, the Commonwealth of Independent States has a clear and balanced programme of both immediate and long-term joint actions aimed at ensuring national and regional security and promoting the dynamic socio-economic development of its member states.
He stressed that the work of the Interstate Council for Industrial Safety contributes to preventing industrial accidents, safeguarding the economies of the member states and ensuring overall stability throughout the Commonwealth.
CIS Deputy Secretary-General expressed confidence that the decisions adopted at the meeting would strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of industrial safety and further deepen effective partnership among the CIS member states.
Nurlan Seitimov also congratulated the leadership and the staff of the Department for Supervision of Safe Operations in Industry of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus on the upcoming 70th anniversary of the Department’s establishment.
The meeting agenda includes:
- amendments to the legislation of the Council’s member states governing industrial safety at hazardous production facilities;
- practice and positive outcomes of bilateral cooperation meetings between the member states;
- training of industrial safety specialists;
- development of a safety culture at hazardous production facilities;
- regulation of gas distribution and gas consumption in the member states;
- Draft Action Plan of the Interstate Council for Industrial Safety for the implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation in Ensuring Industrial Safety at Hazardous Production Facilities for 2027-2031.
The Council members will also discuss:
- application of risk-based approaches to industry safety regulation;
- measures for automated process control systems to counter cyber threats;
- key areas of professional development in industry safety implemented by the Training and Methodological Center of the Federal Environmental, Industrial, and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia.
