On August 18, 2026, at the CIS Executive Committee headquarters, Igor Petrishenko, CIS First Deputy Secretary-General, met with Nuriddin Mamajonov, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Belarus and Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Uzbekistan to statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The sides discussed the vision and foundations of Uzbekistan’s chairmanship of the Commonwealth in 2027, with particular attention to ensuring the continuity of integration initiatives and implementing previously adopted strategic decisions. They also discussed the priorities of Uzbekistan’s participation in the existing formats of multilateral cooperation within the Commonwealth, first of all in summits and high-level meetings.
The interlocutors exchanged views on their vision of the development of cooperation across the CIS. They noted the need to adapt the Commonwealth institutions to current challenges and strengthen coordination between national authorities and the CIS Executive Committee.
The particular attention was paid to the events marking the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
