CIS Customs Experts Discuss Preparations for Next Council Meeting

On August 11-12, 2026, a meeting of experts from the customs authorities of the CIS member states was held in Moscow to prepare for the 83rd meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Customs Authorities, which is planned to take place in Belarus in the second half of 2026.

The meeting was attended by representatives of customs authorities of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and the CIS Executive Committee.

The agenda included issues related to:

  • developing mechanisms for registering and identifying participants in foreign economic activity, taking into account international experience;
  • classifying certain goods in accordance with the CIS Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity;
  • implementing the Memorandum of Understanding among the Customs Authorities of the CIS Member States on Facilitating Transit Transport;
  • the 35th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States, among other issues.

The participants were presented a draft Work Plan of the CIS Council of Heads of Customs Authorities for 2027. They also exchanged experience and shared best practices in cross-border electronic commerce.
