CIS International Observers Meet with Astana Territorial Election Commission

Long-term observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States continue to monitor preparations for the elections of deputies to the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scheduled for August 23, 2026.

 

On August 5, members of the CIS Observation Mission Headquarters met with Beisembai Zhumabekov, Chairman of the Astana Territorial Election Commission.

The Chairman briefed the observers on preparations for the elections and the training of the heads and members of precinct election commissions. He also provided details on work with voter lists and the commission's efforts to create the necessary conditions to ensure the rights of persons with disabilities.

Evgeniy Kozyak, Head of the CIS Observation Mission Headquarters explained the procedure for forming the Mission and the principles governing its activities, as well as the approach taken by CIS international observers to monitoring the preparation for and conduct of the election campaign in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Members of the CIS Observation Mission Headquarters also met with the campaign headquarters of the Respublica party. During the meeting, they received information on the party’s program, its campaign strategy, and measures to prepare the party’s observers who will be present at polling stations on election day.
