On July 28, the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS Member States to the Statutory and other Bodies of the Commonwealth reviewed a report on the activities of the CIS Council on Tourism (in Russian) in 2022–2025. The report was presented by Kiril Masharskiy, Director of National Tourism Agency of Belarus and Belarus’ representative on the Council.
The participants recognized the Council’s significant contribution to improving the organizational structure and legal framework of the tourism sector, developing tourism infrastructure, enhancing the quality of tourism services, and promoting joint tourism projects.
The Council identified the following priorities for the near future:
- Coordinate the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Cooperation among the CIS Member States in Tourism for 2021–2030 (in Russian) and prepare proposals for the next strategic cooperation document in this field.
- Support the preparation of a package of documents for consideration by the supreme bodies of the Commonwealth, including a draft Statement of the CIS Heads of Government on cooperation in tourism, draft Regulations on the CIS Thematic Year in Tourism, Regulations on International Tourism Events of the CIS Member States, and Regulations on the Interstate Program Tourism Capitals of the Commonwealth.
- Continue organizing the CIS Tourism Fair within the framework of the Council’s meetings and further develop the international tourism project TRAVEL HUB. Commonwealth (in Russian).
- Provide information support for international events that contribute to strengthening cooperation among the CIS member states in tourism.
- Support the activities of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, the CIS basic organization for tourism, and develop measures to strengthen the integration impact of its activities and tourism initiatives, including:
- creating a CIS Tourism Education Alliance;
- establishing interstate cooperation in coordinating analytical and statistical tourism data of the CIS member states;
- creating a single digital tourism window bringing together the national digital tourism information platforms of the CIS member states.
