The Commonwealth of Independent States is working on the proposals to the draft Action Plan for the preparation of and holding in 2028 a thematic year of social development and quality of life. The initiative was considered by the working group of the Advisory Council on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Population of the CIS Member States on July 31.
The meeting of the working group was attended by representatives of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee, the General Confederation of Trade Unions, the Coordination Council of the Commonwealth of Veterans (Pensioners) Public Associations of Independent States, CIS sectoral basic organizations, and the CIS Executive Committee.
The working group reviewed the comments and proposals submitted to the draft Action Plan and decided to continue working on the document taking into account the results of its review by the Advisory Council, CIS basic organizations in the social and labor sphere, interested international organizations and public associations of the CIS member states. The participants also scheduled their next meeting for August 28.
The draft Decision on Proclaiming 2028 the Year of Social Development and Quality of Life is expected to be reviewed at a meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council in Turkmenistan on October 9.
The initiative to proclaim the Year of Social Development and Quality of Life was proposed by the Kyrgyz side. Its implementation will strengthen cooperation among the CIS member states in the social sphere, enhance their social and demographic potential and ensure effective employment.
