Long-term observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States continue to monitor preparations for the elections of deputies to the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scheduled for August 23, 2026.
On August 5, members of the CIS Observation Mission Headquarters met with Beisembai Zhumabekov, Chairman of the Astana Territorial Election Commission.
The Chairman briefed the observers on preparations for the elections and the training of the heads and members of precinct election commissions. He also provided details on work with voter lists and the commission's efforts to create the necessary conditions to ensure the rights of persons with disabilities.
From August 8 to 10, members of the CIS Observation Mission Headquarters visited Almaty and Almaty Region where they watched the work of territorial and precinct election commissions.
Particular attention was paid to informing citizens through door-to-door visits, with personal invitations being delivered to residents.
Mission members also attended a training session for precinct election commission members, which included a role-playing exercise simulating the commission’s work on election day. During the exercise, participants were instructed on how to handle possible unforeseen situation.
In addition, members of the Mission Headquarters met with the leaderships of the campaign headquarters of the Auyl Party and Respublica Party. Mission representatives were briefed on the parties’ activities and their assessments of the course of the election campaign.
