An open meeting dedicated to the city’s development, new opportunities and preparations for Karaganda’s status as the CIS Youth Capital 2028 was held in the Central Park of Karaganda to mark Youth Day.
Young residents were invited to propose projects and events to be included in the programme. All proposals will be collected and incorporated into a roadmap.
Deputy Akim of Karaganda Region Alibek Aldeney noted that the main goal is to make 2028 truly a year for youth and to create projects that will continue to operate after the status period ends.
The participants were presented with the concept of the project “Karaganda — CIS Youth Capital 2028” under the slogan “Youth Unites the Future”. Among the proposals are an international forum, a three-month “CIS Youth Summer” with cultural, sports and environmental events. In addition, seven permanent projects are planned to be established as a legacy of the Youth Capital.
According to Asyl Smagulov, Director of the “Voice of Youth” Foundation, the organizers expect to reach over 1 million participants in online and offline formats. The international forum is planned for March: around 5,000 people will be able to participate in person, with at least another 100,000 joining online.
