The members of the CIS Observation Mission visited the East Kazakhstan and Turkistan Regions and the city of Shymkent on August 13, 2026. The long-term observers focused on the work of territorial and precinct election commissions in preparing for the elections to the Kurultai of Kazakhstan.
The heads of territorial election commissions briefed the international observers on efforts to inform citizens about the ongoing election campaign, train election commissions’ members, and provide voters with opportunities to verify and update their personal data in the voter lists.
At an expanded seminar-meeting in Ust-Kamenogorsk organized by the Central Election Commission, the long-term observers highly assessed the professional level of election organizers. According to the Mission representatives, priority is given to ensuring the transparency of the electoral process and strict compliance with the law.
During their visits to Shymkent, the Mission observers met with the leadership of the branch of the Baytaq Green Party. The sides discussed the course of the election campaign and noted the high level of its organization. The Party’s representatives assured the observers that all political forces are provided with the opportunities stipulated by law to conduct campaigning.
After visiting precinct election commissions, the observers confirmed that they were ready for the election day. Polling stations were equipped with copies of relevant legislative acts, methodological materials, and necessary equipment.
Particular attention is being paid to creating an accessible environment for voters with disabilities. Most polling stations are equipped with ramps, while some have elevators. Special voting booths are provided for people with mobility impairment, as well as equipment for voters with hearing or visual impairments.
