Нeads of Observation Missions from CIS and SCO at Kazakhstan Elections Held Meeting

On August 21, 2026, a working meeting was held in Astana between the head of the CIS Observation Mission, Igor Petrishenko, and the head of the SCO International Observation Mission, T.R. Midhun.

The parties exchanged views on the interim results of monitoring the electoral campaign.

High praise was given to the measures taken by the Kazakh side to ensure the electoral process transparency. It was noted that the election organizers created the necessary conditions for the unimpeded work of international observers: access to polling stations was ensured, and the opportunity to interact with members of territorial and precinct election commissions was provided. The national legislation is strictly observed at all stages of election preparation.

Igor Petrishenko emphasized that the CIS and the SCO share a common approach to conducting international observation, which is based on the application of similar principles and standards.

The interlocutors expressed their readiness to continue exchanging relevant information right up until the election results are finalized.
