CIS Executive Committee Delegation Discusses Preparations for Economic Council Meeting

The next, 111th meeting of the CIS Economic Council is scheduled to take place in Ashgabat on September 11.

 

The draft agenda includes 28 items, 12 of which will subsequently be submitted to the CIS Heads of Government Council. These include:

  • a draft Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategy for Ensuring Transport Safety in the CIS Member States During International Transport Operations for 2026–2030;
  • a draft Concept for the Development of Cooperation among the CIS Member States in the Production of Advanced Materials for High-Tech Industries and a draft Action Plan for its implementation;
  • draft decisions on establishing several basic organizations;
  • reports by a number of sectoral cooperation bodies.

A broad range of financial issues will also be discussed.

As part of preparations for the Council meeting, representatives of the CIS Executive Committee, headed by CIS Deputy Secretary-General Ilhom Nematov, held a number of working meetings with Turkmenistan’s Minister of Finance and Economy Mammetguly Astanagulov and senior ministry officials in Ashgabat on August 18-20.

The talks focused on the readiness of the documents to be submitted to the Council, a possible programme of events, and measures to ensure their comprehensive implementation. The delegation also inspected facilities proposed for use in organizing and holding the next Council meeting.

The sides agreed to continue coordinating their efforts to prepare for the CIS Economic Council meeting.
