A regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Commonwealth Member States to the CIS Statutory and Other Bodies was held on 25 August in Minsk. The meeting was attended by CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev.
During the meeting, the Permanent Representatives:
- reviewed proposals for the draft agenda of the CIS Heads of Government Council meeting, to be held in December in Moscow;
- were informed on the implementation of the decisions of the CIS Heads of State Council on the establishment of the institutions of CIS Observer and CIS Partner and the “CIS Plus” format;
- discussed issues related to the formalisation of the Republic of Moldova’s withdrawal from the CIS.
The meeting participants were also briefed on:
- preparations for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s state independence and the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, to be held on 23 September 2026 at the “Maslahat köşgi” Palace in Ashgabat;
- high-level foreign policy events held in the Kyrgyz Republic;
- the work of the CIS Observer Mission during the elections of deputies of the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the outcomes of the parliamentary elections held in the country.
The next meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Commonwealth Member States to the CIS Statutory and Other Bodies is scheduled for 29 September.
