The A.Gromyko Association of Foreign Policy Studies, together with the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Science, MGIMO University and the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus, has opened registration for the 2026 A. Gromyko International Competition for Young International Relations Experts of the CIS.
The competition is open to:
- bachelor’s and master’s students studying social sciences and humanities (political sciences, economics, history, sociology, philosophy, journalism, etc.);
- graduates of the above programmes;
- postgraduate students;
- young researchers (Candidates of Sciences);
- teachers,
- analysts;
- journalists;
- other interested researchers.
Participants must be citizens of the CIS member states aged 18-35.
Applications must be submitted by 23:59 on 20 September 2026 via gromyko.ru/konkurs, together with an analytical paper on one of the following topics:
- The Union State / EAEU / CIS towards 2036. The future of integration projects in the context of implementing the relevant treaties.
- The space of Belarusian and Russian identities. The civilizational and cultural values that unite the two countries.
- The role and position of the EAEU in the global economy up to 2036. What issues need to be addressed, and how, to ensure the sustainable development of the EAEU member states? What are the interests and roles of individual EAEU member states in enhancing competitiveness?
- Security issues facing the CIS member states up to 2036. What are the specific features of our states’ approaches to ensuring national security? The relationship between national security and a common security space.
Special Category 1.
Historical Figure.The diplomatic and scientific legacy of Andrei Gromyko. The works and experience of the Soviet politician, diplomat and scholar in the context of current international relations issues.
Special Category 2.
The identities of the peoples of the CIS member states from the perspective of nation-building: common and distinctive features in the context of prospects for conflict-free interaction.
Winners in various categories will receive valuable prizes. At least 50 participants will be invited to the final round in Moscow, to be held at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Science and MGIMO University. The organisers will cover travel and accommodation costs.
