Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev held a meeting with the Chairman of the CIS Human Rights Commission, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Tatyana Moskalkova on October 3, 2025 at the Moscow Office of the Executive Committee of the CIS.
Tatyana Moskalkova informed Sergey Lebedev about the activities of the Commission and about the work carried out by the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner of the Russian Federation, which serves as the Commission’s Secretariat.
The Russian Federation has been chairing the Commission for a two-year term. During this period, the Commission members have prepared six analytical reviews, including reports on the observance of the rights of World War II veterans, the protection of migrants' rights, and the implementation of international standards in the penitentiary system into the national legislation of the Commission's member states. Other crucial issues related to human rights were also the part of the meeting agenda.
The parties discussed the upcoming CIS summit, which will take place in the city of Dushanbe (the Republic of Tajikistan) on October 10, 2025. The Report on the activities of the CIS Human Rights Commission will be presented for the first time at the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State.
Sergey Lebedev and Tatyana Moskalkova also discussed prospects for further deepening cooperation between the CIS Executive Committee and the institution of the Human Rights Commissioner, including joint work within the platform of the Commonwealth of Independent States Commission on Human Rights.
