Meeting of CIS Advisory Council on Labor, Employment and Social Protection Held in Tashkent

The capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, hosted a regular meeting of the Advisory Council on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Population of the CIS Member States.

 

Representatives from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the Interstate Statistical Committee, the General Confederation of Trade Unions, the Belarusian National Technical University, and the CIS Executive Committee attended the event.

The meeting agenda covered a wide range of issues. These included priority areas for the further development of social and labor cooperation within the CIS, matters of digital transformation in the sphere of labor and employment, innovations in labor statistics processing and visualization, a draft Comprehensive Program aimed at creating a common labor market and regulating labor migration in the Commonwealth countries, and others.

The Council paid particular attention to discussing measures of social protection for participants of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 and persons equated to them, in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory. They also focused on the implementation of active longevity initiatives in the CIS countries, the introduction of new forms of social work for the benefit of older citizens, and support for persons with disabilities.

The meeting participants also visited the Employment Promotion and Poverty Reduction Department and the Tashkent Vocational Skills Center, where they observed practical experience in promoting public employment.

The main aims of the work of vocational skills centers are:

- social support and protection of the population;

- development of entrepreneurship and business engagement;

- provision of psychological and legal assistance to citizens.
