The 11th International Scientific-Practical Conference of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (SCO RATS) is held in Tashkent on November 20-21. The event brings together representatives from the UN, OSCE, CSTO Anti-Terror Center, as well as Interpol.
The conference aims to strengthen cooperation and develop practical approaches to ensuring regional security and stability. Its main theme is “Preventing the Spread of Terrorism and Extremism: Addressing Root Causes”. Within its framework, participants review and discuss counterterrorism cooperation in the context of combating the most pressing security challenges and threats.
CIS Deputy Secretary-General Nurlan Seitimov attended the event.
Addressing the conference, he noted that in the post-Soviet space and across the Eurasian continent as a whole, the primary functions of practical regional security provision are carried out by the CIS, SCO, and CSTO. These organizations possess a substantial history of cooperation and currently have the necessary capabilities to strengthen the interstate system of protection against new challenges and threats.
He recalled that on September 3, 2025, a regular and significant meeting of the Secretaries-General of the CIS, CSTO, and SCO was held on the sidelines of the 25th SCO Summit in Beijing. Following that meeting, the parties approved a Roadmap for developing cooperation between the three key Eurasian organizations for the period 2026–2028. This document systematizes the transition of trilateral cooperation to practical implementation within the framework of forming a new Eurasian security architecture.
