The ceremonial closing of the “Cultural Capitals of the Commonwealth” Interstate Program took place on November 30 in the Azerbaijani city of Lachin.
A greeting to the event organizers and participants was sent by the CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev.
Sergey Lebedev noted that the “Cultural Capitals of the Commonwealth” project annually unites representatives of creative professions and strengthens friendly ties between the peoples of the CIS countries.
In 2025, Lachin served as the platform for cultural dialogue among figures of culture and arts, honorably upholding this esteemed status and showcasing its rich potential.
“Here, amidst mountains and clean air, national melodies resonated and ancient crafts were demonstrated; festivals, competitions, creative laboratories, and educational projects took place. The program opening ceremony, the round table “Intercultural Cooperation as a Path to Sustainable Development” and the International Art Exhibition “Colors of Unity” were held with broad participation from CIS countries. Interesting projects such as “CIS Film Days” and “CIS Youth Camp” were implemented”, – stated Secretary-General in his greeting message.
Sergey Lebedev expressed confidence that those vibrant events brought many joyful encounters and discoveries, became a true celebration for the city’s residents and guests and served as an impetus for the further development of cultural cooperation among the states.
“Concluding the implementation of the Program in Lachin, we open a new chapter in its chronicle. Let the results of this year become a solid foundation for new initiatives aimed at creation”, – emphasized the CIS Secretary-General.
