Inter-MFA Consultations on Foreign Policy Planning Held in Minsk

Inter-ministerial consultations on the topic “Foreign Policy Planning of the CIS Member States Ministries of Foreign Affairs” were held on December 10 at the Commonwealth headquarters in Minsk.

 

The consultations were attended by representatives from:

– Azerbaijan;

– Armenia;

– Belarus;

– Kazakhstan;

– Kyrgyzstan;

– Russia;

– Tajikistan;

– Uzbekistan;

– the CIS Executive Committee.

During the discussion on the general international situation and the main trends in its development, participants noted that the world is undergoing rapid changes affecting all spheres of life. They acknowledged a steady trend towards the formation of a multipolar world order against the backdrop of the growing aggregate potential and strengthening international positions of the world’s majority countries – states and interstate associations of Eurasia, Africa, and Latin America.

The representatives of the foreign policy agencies of the CIS countries agreed on the need to adapt the architecture of international interaction to new realities, including taking into account the legitimate interests of all states to ensure peace, equal security, and fair development.

The meeting highlighted the relevance of the CIS platform for discussing Eurasian security issues and the importance of resolving regional conflicts and problems with the leading role of the regional states themselves.

Following the discussion, the parties expressed their interest in developing and strengthening working contacts.
