A Forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, International Day of Neutrality, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality was held in Ashgabat on December 12,2025.
It was attended by heads of state and leaders of international organizations. The Forum was visited by representatives from the Commonwealth countries:
– President of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan;
– President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev;
– President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov;
– President of Russia, Vladimir Putin;
– President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon;
– President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
A delegation from the CIS Executive Committee, headed by CIS Deputy Secretary-General Denis Trefilov, participated in the celebratory events.
A plenary session of the International Forum on the topic “Peace and Trust: Unity of Goals for a Sustainable Future” was held with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (The Upper House of Parliament) of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The CIS Executive Committee delegation also took part in the wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument of Neutrality and other festive events.

Turkmenistan’s neutral status was recognized internationally in 1995. In 2017, the UN General Assembly, with the support of all 185 UN members, adopted a resolution proclaiming December 12 as the International Day of Neutrality. The anniversary of this event is a national holiday in Turkmenistan.
