A working meeting of delegations from the Executive Committee of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (head of delegation – Director of the SCO RATS Executive Committee, Ularbeck Sharsheev), the competent authority of the Republic of Belarus, and the Anti-Terrorism Center of the Commonwealth of Independent States member states (head of delegation – Head of the CIS ATC, Yevgeny Sysoev) was held in Minsk.
During the meeting, issues of preparation for the SCO-CIS Counter-Terrorism Forum to be held in 2026 on the territory of the Republic of Belarus were discussed. The forum will combine counter-terrorism exercises by the competent authorities of SCO member states, a joint anti-terrorism exercise of CIS member states, and the Fourth CIS Counter-Terrorism Conference.
Within the framework of the visit, the heads of the international delegations met with Chairman of the State Security Committee (KGB) of the Republic of Belarus, Lieutenant General Ivan Tertel. The head of the competent authority of the Republic of Belarus emphasized the important political, diplomatic and practical significance of the upcoming events for the progressive integration of the two regional anti-terrorism structures and the further consolidation of efforts by the competent authorities of states belonging to the SCO and the CIS in the fight against terrorism, separatism, and extremism.
Following the meeting, which was held in a constructive atmosphere, a set of practical measures for preparing the large-scale Counter-Terrorism Forum was agreed upon. The participants agreed to continue working contacts.
