The 14th meeting of the CIS Council for Interregional and Cross-Border Cooperation was held on December 18 via videoconference at the Moscow Office of the CIS Executive Committee.
The meeting was attended by:
- Council members and authorized representatives from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan;
- representatives of the CIS Executive Committee;
- representatives of the Council of Heads of Chambers of the CIS Member States;
- representatives of the Economic Affairs Commission under the CIS Economic Council.
Director of the Department for Economic Cooperation with the CIS Countries at the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Alexey Mikhaylov opened and chaired the meeting.
Director of the Economic Cooperation Department of the CIS Executive Committee Mikhail Myskin addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. In his remarks, he noted that the Council’s work is now of particular relevance in light of the Action Plan for implementing the second stage of the CIS Economic Development Strategy until 2030 (approved on September 29, 2025). It is a document that sets the strategic direction, including for interregional and cross-border cooperation.
Meeting participants discussed:
- current state of interregional and cross-border cooperation within the CIS;
- outcomes of the first CIS Regions Forum, held on April 29, 2025, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan;
- tasks for implementing the Action Plan for the Concept of Interregional and Cross-Border Cooperation of the CIS Member States until 2030, considering amendments introduced by the Decision of the CIS Heads of Government Council (June 5, 2025).
A representative of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry informed the meeting participants about activities for interaction in the field of interregional and cross-border partnership among the CIS member states.
Within the framework of the previously established rotation, Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shokhrukh Gulyamov was elected Chairman of the Council for 2026.
The next, 15th meeting of the Council for Interregional and Cross-Border Cooperation of the CIS Member States is scheduled for the second half of 2026 in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
