The National Research Center “Kurchatov Institute” has developed a draft document on developing the production of advanced materials for high-tech industries within the CIS space, CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev told RIA Novosti in an interview.
“Currently, at the expert level, a document in the field of producing advanced materials for high-tech industries, developed by our basic organization “Kurchatov Institute”, is being coordinated. We are confident that its adoption will contribute to the common efforts towards achieving technological sovereignty”, said Sergey Lebedev.
He emphasized that industry is a crucial component of any state’s economy. “Currently, the main efforts of the Commonwealth countries in this sphere are aimed at implementing the Concept for Developing Industrial Cooperation of the CIS Member States, adopted in 2023. Under the CIS Council on Industrial Policy, a working group on developing industrial cooperation has been established and began fulfilling its tasks last year. Furthermore, a list of priority industrial sectors and directions for industrial cooperation based on national industrial development strategies has been adopted”, noted Sergey Lebedev.
According to him, an important event in strengthening industrial cooperation within the CIS was the signing of the agreement on cooperation in developing heavy industry sectors, which aims to facilitate the development of industrial production and its supply with machinery and equipment in accordance with new technological solutions. “In the same vein is the agreement on cooperation in developing civil shipbuilding, as a significant share of the external and internal trade of the CIS countries is ensured by maritime and river transport”, continued the Secretary-General.
He also recalled such a strategic document as the Concept for Developing Cooperation in the Light Industry. “Its practical implementation will unite the countries’ efforts in technological renewal, expanding the range, and increasing the production and export volumes of competitive, innovative, and high-quality products”, emphasized Sergey Lebedev.
