2026 – Year of Health Protection in the Commonwealth of Independent States

The CIS Heads of State Council adopted a decision on October 14, 2022, to declare 2026 the Year of Health Protection in the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Experts from the Commonwealth countries have developed the Action Plan for the Preparation and Holding of the Year of Health Protection in the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2026. Its paramount goal is to signify a unified aspiration for

  • preserving citizens’ health;
  • exchanging best practices and scientific developments;
  • conducting joint events;
  • developing international cooperation both among the CIS countries and with the World Health Organization.

Taking into account the established practice of holding thematic years in the Commonwealth, the Plan includes events of an interstate character as well as the most important events conducted at the national level.

The document comprises 10 sections, encompassing approximately 100 events. These include improving the Commonwealth’s regulatory legal framework in healthcare, interaction with the World Health Organization, and holding events on the sidelines of WHO governing body meetings, among others.

During the Year of Health Protection, scientific forums, conferences, congresses, exhibitions of new health protection technologies, telemedicine programs, remote diagnostics, and a range of other events are expected to take place in the Commonwealth countries.
