On January 20, 2026, a meeting was held at the CIS Executive Committee’s Moscow office between CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev and Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Secretary-General Taalatbek Masadykov.
The parties exchanged views on the situation within and beyond the Commonwealth, discussed practical interaction between the statutory and working bodies of the CIS and the corresponding structures of the CSTO, and agreed to intensify and expand cooperation between the relevant structures of the CIS and CSTO. In 2026, primary efforts will be directed towards implementing:
– The Roadmap for Developing Cooperation between the CIS, CSTO, and SCO;
– The CIS Member States Cooperation Program on Strengthening Border Security at External Borders for 2026-2030
– The Interstate Program of Joint Measures to Combat Crime for 2024-2028;
– The CIS Member States Cooperation Program in Combating Terrorism and Extremism for 2026-2028;
– The CIS Member States Cooperation Program on Deradicalization for 2025-2027;
– The Concept of Military Cooperation among CIS Member States until 2030.
