A meeting of the expert group to finalize the draft Regulations on the CIS basic organization for continuous professional education of healthcare specialists was held on January 26 at the Commonwealth headquarters.
The event was attended by representatives from:
– Armenia;
– Belarus;
– Kazakhstan;
– Kyrgyzstan;
– Russia;
– Tajikistan;
– Uzbekistan;
– The CIS Executive Committee.
Following the discussion, the experts finalized and agreed on the draft Regulations. The document is planned to be submitted for consideration to the CIS Economic Council in accordance with the established procedure.
It should be noted that the need to establish a basic organization is driven by the particular urgency of the issue regarding the quality of healthcare specialist training amid a shortage and imbalance of medical personnel.
It is proposed to grant the status of a CIS basic organization to the Russian Medical Academy of Continuous Professional Education. This aims to develop higher and additional professional education, as well as to improve the main professional educational programs for postgraduate medical and pharmaceutical education in the CIS member states.

The Russian Medical Academy of Continuous Professional Education is the largest federal educational, scientific, and methodological center for additional and postgraduate professional education of medical personnel in the Russian Federation. The institution comprises 6 faculties, 94 departments, a clinic, the Research Institute of Molecular and Personalized Medicine, the Institute of Professional Development Methodology, the Multidisciplinary Accreditation and Simulation Center, the Center for Quality Control of Immunohistochemical Studies, the Center for Translating Evidence-Based Medical Knowledge, the Center for Extrapyramidal and Cognitive Disorders, a scientific library, and a museum.
