Memorandum of Cooperation Signed in Minsk Between CIS Executive Committee and Assembly of Peoples of the World

The Commonwealth of Independent States Executive Committee and “World Peoples Assembly” International Non-Governmental Organizations Union concluded a Memorandum of Cooperation.

 

The official signing ceremony took place on January 28 at the CIS Executive Committee headquarters. The document was signed by CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev and World Peoples Assembly Secretary-General Andrey Belyaninov.

The Memorandum stipulates that the parties, within their competence, will promote cooperation in:

– strengthening good-neighborly relations between peoples and states based on mutual respect for interests;

– implementing joint projects in socio-economic, cultural, educational, and humanitarian spheres;

– studying and sharing international experience in interaction within science, education, culture, and sports.

Furthermore, under the agreement, the two international organizations intend to promote scientific, educational, cultural, and sports exchanges, encourage and support international humanitarian programmes, and engage the younger generation in integration processes through participation in the implementation of projects and programmes to develop cooperation in various fields of international relations.

To this end, it is planned to exchange views, information, and best practices on issues of mutual interest, hold forums, conferences, and other events within the parties’ competence, organize mutual consultations, and establish joint working (expert) groups on matters of mutual interest.

In an interview with journalists after the signing, the CIS Secretary-General emphasized that this event is seen as an important step towards deepening interaction between the two organizations.

According to him, the Assembly is gaining increasing authority on the international stage, expanding its spheres of influence and areas of activity, many of which align with the interests of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Special attention will be paid to engaging youth through participation in projects and programmes for developing cooperation in various fields of international relations, - stated Sergey Lebedev.

In turn, Andrey Belyaninov noted that it is a great honor for the Assembly to sign a cooperation document with the CIS Executive Committee.

Andrey Belyaninov stated that the Assembly plans to organize and conduct a number of major international events, to which representatives of the Commonwealth countries and the leadership of the CIS Executive Committee will be invited to participate.
