CIS Plans to Establish Basic Organization in Transfusiology

A meeting of the expert group to finalize the draft Regulations on the CIS basic organization in transfusiology was held on February 3 at the Commonwealth headquarters.

 

The event was attended by representatives from:

– Armenia;

– Belarus;

– Kazakhstan;

– Kyrgyzstan;

– Russia;

– Tajikistan;

– Uzbekistan;

– The CIS Executive Committee.

Upon the initiative of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, it has been proposed to grant the status of a CIS basic organization to the Republican Scientific and Practical Centre for Transfusiology and Medical Biotechnology. This initiative was supported by the CIS health Ministers at the meeting of the CIS Council for Health Cooperation, which took place in Dushanbe in October 2025.

The goal of establishing the basic organization is to introduce unified standards for blood services and improve the quality of transfusiological care for the population of the CIS member states.

During the meeting, the experts finalized the draft Regulations on the basic organization and the draft corresponding Decision of the CIS Economic Council.

The Commonwealth countries have established national systems for organizing transfusiological care. The introduction and dissemination of modern treatment methods have altered its nature, and blood and blood component donation has become one of the foundational factors in developing high-tech medical care. The Commonwealth countries strive to improve their healthcare systems by drawing on advanced experience and best practices.
