Cancer Prevention Week Held in CIS Countries as Part of World Cancer Day

From February 2 to 8, 2026, a week dedicated to the prevention of oncological diseases is being observed in the Commonwealth countries as part of World Cancer Day, which is marked annually around the world on February 4.

This day aims to draw society’s attention to one of the most serious contemporary challenges – oncological diseases. The key symbol of the World Cancer Day is a multicolored ribbon, intended to remind people of the importance of taking care of their health and the necessity of timely diagnosis.

Within the CIS framework, the Concept of Cooperation in Countering Oncological Diseases has been implemented since 2016. This Concept defines:

– main principles of cooperation in the fields of prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of oncological diseases;

– medical, economic, legal, and social measures aimed at preserving and strengthening human health, and maintaining active longevity.

Currently, experts from the Commonwealth countries are working on developing the next Action Plan for implementing this Concept.
