A working meeting between the leadership of the Commonwealth of Independent States Executive Committee and the CIS basic organization on student nutrition was held on February 11 in Minsk.
The meeting was attended by:
- CIS First Deputy Secretary-General Igor Petrishenko;
- CIS Deputy Secretary-General Denis Trefilov;
- President of the Institute of Industrial Nutrition Autonomous Non-Profit Organization, Head of the CIS Basic Organization on Student Nutrition Vladimir Chernigov.
Opening the meeting, Igor Petrishenko noted that balanced nutrition for students is one of the conditions for creating a health-preserving environment in educational institutions.
He detailed the system of student nutrition organization and control established in Belarus, along with current approaches and requirements in this sphere, emphasizing that Belarusian specialists are ready to share their rich positive experience with colleagues from the CIS countries. The republic has established production of modern equipment for canteens, buffets, and cafés in educational institutions, which Belarusian enterprises are also prepared to export to the Commonwealth states.
In turn, Vladimir Chernigov thanked the CIS Executive Committee leadership for the meeting and for the attention paid to cooperation issues in the sphere of student nutrition organization.
Vladimir Chernigov informed participants about the main areas of activity of the CIS basic organization on student nutrition, specifically addressing:
- development of comparable approaches to student nutrition;
- formulation of proposals on terminology, production of technological equipment and specialized food products, as well as development and implementation of economic mechanisms;
- methodological and organizational support for assessing the state of developing the material-technical base of student nutrition facilities and forming institutions for it, as well as support for production and logistical infrastructure for student nutrition;
- implementation of joint educational and research programmes.
The basic organization also provides assistance in developing healthy nutrition rations for students of different age groups and proposals for incorporation into national training systems for specialists in the sphere of student nutrition.
