CIS First Deputy Secretary-General Igor Petrishenko and Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitry Kobitsky discussed prospects for integration across the Commonwealth space.
Dmitry Kobitsky noted that the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly interacts with all sectoral bodies of the Commonwealth and is ready to develop documents that would help resolve pressing issues for the countries of the region and thereby contribute to the development of cooperation.
The Secretariat has intensified cooperation with national institutions dealing with legislative matters.
Igor Petrishenko noted that the potential for integration in the region is great, and the IPA CIS and the CIS Executive Committee share many common tasks. In his opinion, special attention should be paid to the economic agenda.
The conversation also touched upon the importance of working with youth. It was noted that the International Olympiad in Humanities and Social Sciences, initiated and conducted by the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, serves to deepen humanitarian cooperation and promote the Russian language as one of the important tools for integration across the CIS space.
