A meeting of the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives to the CIS Statutory and Other Bodies was held on February 24 at the CIS headquarters.
During the meeting, the participants discussed:
- Participation of the CIS countries in the 33rd Minsk International Book Fair. The fair annually brings together around 400 exhibitors from 25 countries worldwide. One of the central themes of this year’s book fair will be the 35th anniversary of the Commonwealth;
- Implementation of the Roadmap for realizing initiatives proposed by heads of delegations during meetings of the CIS Heads of State Council, Heads of Government Council, Council of Foreign Ministers, and Economic Council, regarding cooperation in the security sphere;
- Results of the activities of the CIS sectoral cooperation bodies in the security sphere in 2025;
- Proposals for the draft agenda of the CIS Heads of Government Council meeting scheduled for May 22 in Ashgabat;
- Outcomes of implementing the Forward-looking Plan for the Development of the Commonwealth of Independent States Treaty and Legal Framework for 2023–2025, as well as prospects for developing the CIS treaty and legal framework for the subsequent three-year period;
- Nominations for awarding the CIS Certificate of Honor.
The Permanent Representatives adopted a Decision on the Head of the CIS Observer Mission for the republican referendum on the adoption of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scheduled for March 15, 2026. The Mission will be headed by CIS First Deputy Secretary-General Igor Petrishenko.
The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan Timur Zhaksylykov provided detailed information on the draft new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is proposed for adoption at the upcoming republican referendum.
The Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation Alexander Lukashevich presented to his colleagues the documentary collections “Republics to the Front 1941–1945”.
