Consultations on Prospects for Developing Economic Cooperation of CIS Member States Held in Moscow

On February 26, 2026, consultations with representatives of the scientific community, experts, and leading specialists in the field of global and regional economics on the prospects for developing economic cooperation of the CIS member states took place at the CIS Executive Committee office.

 

The meeting was attended by:

  • CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev;
  • CIS Deputy Secretary-General Ilkhom Nematov;
  • Director of the Economic Cooperation Department of the CIS Executive Committee Mikhail Myskin;
  • Staff members of the CIS Executive Committee;
  • Plenipotentiary representatives of the CIS countries to the Economic Affairs Commission under the CIS Economic Council;
  • Director of the Institute for Research of International Economic Relations of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Victoria Perskaya;
  • Head of the Department of International Trade and Foreign Trade of Russia at the Russian Foreign Trade Academy Andrey Spartak;
  • Director of the Institute for the Development of Integration Processes at the Russian Foreign Trade Academy Andrey Tochin;
  • Representatives of the expert community.

In his welcoming address to the consultation participants, CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev noted that under the influence of global economic and political changes, the strategic goals and objectives of the Commonwealth are being updated, and a new vision of ways to achieve them is being formed.

During the discussion, the participants addressed issues of developing CIS interaction with other regional integration associations, regulating migration processes, cooperation with partners in the new “CIS Plus” format, and others.

For reference

Cooperation among CIS countries in the economic sphere is carried out on the basis of the CIS Economic Development Strategy until 2030, covering all areas. Its first stage was successfully implemented in 2021–2025, and the Action Plan for the implementation of the second stage (2026–2030) is currently being executed.
