CIS long-term observers familiarized themselves with the work of referendum commissions in the Almaty, Baikonyr, Yesil, Saraishyk, and Saryarka districts of the city of Astana.
Members of the referendum commissions informed the international observers that training activities for commission members were nearing completion. They noted that professional training of referendum organizers is an important element of conducting the referendum, and therefore, at the final stage, all of them will undergo testing on their knowledge of the Republic of Kazakhstan’s legislation on referendums.
The CIS observers were also provided with information on:
- measures to implement the voting rights of citizens with disabilities;
- information support for the referendum campaign;
- provision of opportunities for citizens eligible to participate in the referendum to verify their data in the lists.
Currently, commission members are conducting door-to-door visits, delivering to citizens personal invitations with a QR-code. By following the link via the QR-code, citizens gain access to information about the voting day, the question being put to the republican referendum, and the voting procedure.
Representatives of the CIS Observer Mission noted the high level of readiness of the precinct commissions to conduct the referendum, as well as the availability of necessary equipment and methodological materials at the polling stations.
