First Ministerial Conference of International Organization for the Russian Language to Be Held in Moscow on March 11

On March 11, 2026, the first Ministerial Conference of the International Organization for the Russian Language will be held in Moscow, marking the launch of practical work for this new structure. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov will participate in its work from the Russian side.

The initiative to establish the Organization belongs to the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. It was supported by the leaders of Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The corresponding Treaty was signed in Bishkek on October 13, 2023.

During the upcoming conference, the Secretary-General of the Organization and his deputy will be elected, and the necessary organizational and financial documents will be approved.

The parties will exchange views on current issues of using the Russian language in international practice and discuss the main areas of joint work.

We believe that the International Organization for the Russian Language, alongside existing mechanisms within the CIS space, will become a useful instrument for preserving and promoting the Russian language worldwide and further building a common cultural and humanitarian space.
