The CIS Observer Mission has concluded that the referendum on the adoption of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held at a high organizational level, in full compliance with legislation. This was stated by Mission Head Igor Petrishenko during a final press conference at the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Igor Petrishenko also stated that state authorities and referendum commissions had ensured citizens the opportunity for free expression of will and that the vote counting procedure had been carried out in full compliance with legislation. He added that individual shortcomings recorded by observers during the referendum were of a technical nature and had been promptly addressed by precinct commissions.
“Mission revealed no violations that could have affected the referendum results,” Igor Petrishenko noted.
