Meeting of CIS Interstate Council on Exhibition, Fair and Congress Activities Held

On April 9, 2026, a meeting of the CIS Interstate Council on Exhibition, Fair and Congress Activities was held in Moscow at the VDNKh grounds.

 

The meeting was attended by representatives from:

– Azerbaijan;

– Armenia;

– Belarus;

– Kazakhstan;

– Kyrgyzstan;

– Russia;

– Tajikistan;

– Uzbekistan;

– The CIS Executive Committee;

– CIS sectoral cooperation bodies;

– The Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs – the CIS basic organization;

– St. Petersburg State University of Economics;

– International Television and Radio Company “Mir”;

– Leadership of exhibition and trade centers of CIS member states.

Welcoming addresses to the meeting participants were delivered by CIS Deputy Secretary-General Ilkhom Nematov and Director General of VDNKh JSC Sergey Shogurov.

In his remarks, Ilkhom Nematov emphasized the strengthening of integration processes within the Commonwealth and stable economic growth in the CIS countries, despite the challenging political and economic situation in the world, as well as some skeptical forecasts.

During the meeting, discussions were held on:

– Council’s activities in 2025 and tasks for 2026;

– implementation of strategic directions for CIS development in the field of exhibition, fair and congress activities;

– operation and prospects of exhibition and trade centers of CIS member states at the VDNKh grounds;

– organizational issues and others.

For his great contribution to the development of cooperation among CIS member states in the field of exhibition, fair and congress activities, Sergey Shogurov was awarded the jubilee medal “35 Years of the CIS”.

The Plenipotentiary Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Economic Affairs Commission under the CIS Economic Council, Ulukbek Karmyshakov, noted the positive changes at VDNKh and expressed gratitude to the Council’s Executive Directorate for organizing the event and the work carried out by the Council.
