On April 20, 2026, the 33rd Russian National Congress “Man and Medicine” began its work in Moscow. This interdisciplinary event brings together professionals with a wide range of scientific expertise, facilitating interaction among practicing clinicians, scientists, pharmacologists, pharmacists, and representatives of regulatory authorities. The Congress’s main goal is to improve patient treatment approaches, directly or indirectly, by discussing the experience of drug use and promoting safer and more effective utilization.
A video greeting to Congress participants was sent by CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev.
It noted that holding the Congress during the Year of Health Protection in the Commonwealth once again confirms the demand for professional dialogue among the international medical community.
“The decision of the CIS Heads of Government Council to hold the Year of Health Protection was adopted as a sign of respect for the selfless work and contribution of medical workers in saving people’s lives. During this year, we speak not only about the importance of medicine in preserving human life but also about the role of the medical community, the high professionalism of medical workers, and their deep dedication to their chosen profession,” the greeting stated.
It also emphasized the symbolic nature of the Congress having first taken place in 1992 – the year when, at the initiative of the health ministers of the Commonwealth countries, the Council for Cooperation in Health of the CIS was established.
“I would like to emphasize that the ‘Man and Medicine’ Congress is the first international medical platform in the post-Soviet space to unite doctors of various specialties and launch many professional forums,” the CIS Secretary-General’s greeting said.
Sergey Lebedev particularly noted that for over thirty years, this Forum has brought together the best representatives of healthcare from the Commonwealth countries – all those who share the noble common deed of caring for people's health.
“The most important task of healthcare is to increase the duration of healthy and active life of the population. In this regard, it is more important than ever to expand cooperation, share advanced scientific experience and key achievements in clinical practice. All this will improve the accessibility and quality of medical care, which is a key national priority for every state,” Sergey Lebedev emphasized.
