On 24 April 2026, a working meeting between CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev and Ignatius Graham Mudzimba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zimbabwe to the Republic of Belarus, took place at the CIS headquarters. The meeting was initiated by His Excellency the Ambassador of Zimbabwe.
During a detailed conversation, the two sides discussed current issues of cooperation between Zimbabwe and the CIS member states. Particular attention was paid to the dynamics of political dialogue, and trade and economic ties. It was noted that Belarus and Russia have already become strategic partners for Zimbabwe, and that expanding economic ties with other Commonwealth countries has significant potential.
The parties underscored a mutual interest in exploring new formats of interaction.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides confirmed their readiness to continue constructive dialogue and implement joint initiatives aimed at deepening mutually beneficial cooperation.
