A working meeting between Igor Petrishenko, CIS First Deputy Secretary-General, and Sergey Yemelyanov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Komi Republic (Russia), took place on April 27, 2026, at the CIS headquarters.

The sides discussed preparations for the International Film Festival and the First Creative Youth Camp of the CIS countries. Both events are scheduled for August 2026 and will be held in Syktyvkar, the capital of the Komi Republic. They are expected to become among the largest international creative youth events across the Commonwealth.

Sergey Yemelyanov said that the Camp will bring together hundreds of young people from Commonwealth countries. Participants will include representatives of creative fields, such as musicians, artists, masters of folk crafts, designers, and journalists.

The International Film Festival will take place on the same days. Its programme includes film screenings, creative meetings and cultural events, which will be held at the cinema venues in Syktyvkar. According to Sergey Yemelyanov, the festival will serve as a platform for cultural exchange and for introducing audiences to the contemporary cinema of the CIS member states.

During the meeting, Igor Petrishenko emphasized the high cultural and international significance of the upcoming events. He stressed that they will not only create conditions for the creative development of the youth, but will also become an important element in strengthening friendship, mutual understanding and cooperation among the youth and creative figures of the Commonwealth countries.

The CIS First Deputy Secretary-General noted that the CIS Executive Committee will provide full organizational and informational support in the preparation and holding of the Film Festival and the Youth Camp.

The sides agreed to continue working together to ensure the successful implementation of these large-scale initiatives.
